impact
on
what players wear, use, throw, catch,
and hit. An athlete from years gone
by would hardly recognize the clothes that to-
day’s athletes wear, for instance. Using high-
tech materials that are strong, lightweight,
durable, and very stretchy, athletes today are
cooler and safer than they’ve ever been. The
protective gear they use also is packed with
technology, along with advances in materials
that provide added strength without added
weight.
Nearly every sport can point to ways that
new technology has aided gear that its ath-
letes use.
