Trenchless solutions expert Warrior has
developed a free introductory seminar,
which includes live demonstrations of
the company’s products in action, in
order to help interested companies
learn more about pipe bursting and
thrust boring work, and the increasing
opportunities for using the techniques.
Despite pipe bursting and thrust boring
being around for many years, Warrior
has found that many companies only
have a basic understanding of what the
technology can do.
The seminars are held regularly at the
Warrior head office in Runcorn, UK,
and have also been held on ‘live’ sites
across the UK and even as far afield
as Krakow, Poland where Warrior has
recently started training.
The seminars provide an overview of
the different types of work the machines
can be used for, and include live
demonstrations so that the equipment
can be seen in action. Technical advisors
are present to answer queries, as each

company generally wants to talk about
the scenarios they have encountered,
and ask how Warrior’s products can
help.
Tony O’Brien, managing director of
Warrior, commented, “What has been
most useful is that there is still some
scepticism and a general lack of
awareness of the capability of this type
of machine. There are 3D animations
on the Warrior website but it’s the live
demonstrations that really show people
how portable and quick the machines
are. For example, people are amazed
at the directional capability of the WR4
and WR6 thrust boring machines, as this
functionality isn’t available on any other
thrust boring machine in this category. In
addition the power of the machine needs
to be seen to be truly understood.”
TheWR4 and 6 use detection technology
that allows the rod to be steered
accurately, avoiding known obstacles
within the ground. Both machines are
suitable for use in difficult soil conditions,
and are quick and accurate in sand,
hard clay, sticky clay and gravel. Both
models have been in operation in the
USA for over 30 years.
