1. Thursday, 29 January, 1987, Dr.
Desmond
McGrath, FRCPI, FRCPsych, DPM, Medical
Director, St. John of God Hospital, Stillorgan,
Dublin, and Consultant Psychiatrist to St.
Laurence's (Richmond) Hospital, Dublin, a Past
President of the Society, on "Schizophrenia — Some
Medico-Legal Aspects".
2. Thursday, 26 February, 1987, Dr. Derek L. Carson,
Deputy State Pathologist, Northern Ireland, on
"What is Natural Death?"
3. Thursday, 26 March, 1987, The Hon. Mr. Justice
Niall McCarthy, Judge of the Supreme Court, a Past
President of the Society, on "First, let's kill all the
Lawyers!"
4. Saturday, 2 May, 1987, Annual Dinner of the
Society. Speakers will propose the toasts of Medicine
and Law. Further details in relation to the dinner will
be published later.
5. Thursday, 21 May, 1987, Annual General Meeting of
the Society in the Boardroom of the City of Dublin
Skin and Cancer Hospital, Hume Street, by kind
permission.
Members and their guests are invited to join the
Council and the guest speakers for dinner at 6.00 p.m.
for 6.30 p.m. on the evening of each lecture. Members
intending to dine must communicate not later than the
day before the dinner with the Hon. Secretary, Miss
Mary McMurrough Murphy, B.L., at 2 Whitebeam
Road, Clonskeagh, Dublin 14. (Tel. 694280) or at the
Law Library, Four Courts, Dublin 7. (Tel. No. 720622).
The regular meetings and dinners will be held in the
United Service Club, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, by
kind permission. The meetings are scheduled for 8.30
p.m.
Membership of the Society is open to members of the
medical and legal professions and to others especially
interested in medico-legal matters. The current annual
subscription is £8. Persons seeking to become members
of the Society should communicate with the Honorary
Secretary.
