PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project is for the design and installation of a raw water (pre-oxidant)
chlorine dioxide feed system at both plants. Currently Townsend uses
pre-chlorination to remove organics and manganese. These substances add
significantly to the generation of disinfection by-products (DBP's). Chlorine
dioxide does not contribute to DBP formation and significantly reduces organics.
This system will allow Water Supply to reduce DBP formation meeting regulatory
requirements well into the future.
