In honor of National Bourbon Heritage Month AND International Bacon Day (Sept 5th), let's make some MAPLE BOURBON BACON!

• 2 oz. Michter’s Rye Whiskey • ¾ oz. Cocchi Dopo Teatro Vermouth • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters • Garnish: Luxardo Maraschino cherry DIRECTIONS In a mixing glass with ice stir together whiskey, vermouth, and bitters with a long mixing spoon until well chilled. Strain into a chilled martini or coup class, garnish with cherry and serve.

DIRECTIONS Bring ¼ cup maple syrup and 3 tablespoons of bourbon to a boil in a saucepan and let cool. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and bacon. Bake the bacon at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with maple bourbon; continue cooking for about 10 more minutes or until bacon reaches desired crispiness. Use Maker's Mark for a lighter flavor or Woodford Reserve for a stronger kick.

THE SAZERAC Serves 10 • 4 cups (32 oz.) Bulleit Rye Whiskey • ½ oz. absinthe • ½ tsp. orange bitters • ½ cup (4 oz.) orange simple syrup* • 10 strips orange peels Combine rye, absinthe, bitters, simple syrup, and 1 cup filtered water in a large bowl or pitcher. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight. To serve, ladle into coupe glasses and garnish each with an orange peel.

*ORANGE SIMPLE SYRUP Combine ½ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup water, and the peel of one orange in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer and stir to dissolve sugar. Remove pan from heat and cool completely. Strain syrup through a fine mesh sieve and discard the orange peel. Refrigerate in a covered container for up to 2 weeks. Makes ½ cup.

DAVID PIATTELLI GRAND RESERVE MALBEC 2022 Rated 90 Points by James Suckling. This Grand Reserve wine has flavors of ripe plum, cassis and dark currant with notes of mocha. Has great tannin structure. Velvet finish filled with hints of dark chocolate. Baked blueberries, toasted coconut and hot chocolate on the nose. It’s full-bodied, toasty and chewy. The tannins are woody and a little drying, but should come around. Try from 2026. Grapes for this Malbec come from the Uco Valley. The nose exhibits bright aromas of cassis and peppercorn. It has a soft mouthfeel and balanced flavors of black and red fruit, enhanced by clove and nutmeg. $20.98 $26.99 SAUVIGNON BLANC 2025 Lemons, limes and a layered biscuity, richness that lifts the aromatics out of the glass.
