LABORAL CIUDAD DE LA CULTURA, GIJÓN An excellent refurbishment has turned the former Universidad Laboral de Gijón (Asturias) into a huge, gardened, architectural complex ideal for culture, training and entrepreneurial innovation. This extraordinary limestone and gran ite building has multi-purpose rooms for staging all types of business, cultur al and social activities and events. The former Telecommunications Palace and currently the seat of Madrid's City Hall is a true, 20th-century archi tectural gem. The idyllic Canary Island of Lanzarote, with strong links to the artist César Manrique, provides a spectacular set ting at the foot of the La Corona Volcano where nature and art go hand-in-hand.
