Transporting
plate roll
AFTER a long and tough commissioning, with full positive
results, a Davi 4,000 x 255mm, claimed to be the heaviest
4-roll ever built, has been completely dismounted and
loaded onto 17 trucks, to be delivered to its new home, at
the buyer’s site.
Company president Orazio Davi commented, “The front
and rear frames as well as rolls of this machine are the
heaviest parts of this plate roll, made in high tensile material,
to resist to the high load of 6,500 tons available to roll the
heavy plates the machine has been purchased for. They are
so oversized (large and heavy) to require the transport with
very special trucks, one for each of these components, due
to the weight of more than 80 tons each.”
A team of highly professional riggers ensured the load of
all 17 trucks required to transport the entire machine, nine of
which were special oversized trucks, making it possible to
arrive at the final destination without delays.
The customer, one of the largest Russian manufacturers of
heavy fabrication, is keen to put the machine into operation,
to start production of heavy-duty vessels for the nuclear
industry and offshore components.
