A facility maintained for the purpose of providing nursing or convalescent care for three or more
persons unrelated to the licensee. A nursing home is a home for chronic or convalescent patients, who on
admission, are not as a rule, acutely ill and who do not usually require specialized medical facilities.
Accessory uses may include dining rooms and recreation and physical therapy facilities for residents,
and offices and storage facilities for professional and supervisory staff. This use type does not include
congregate living facilities, where the focus is on providing personal care rather than medical care, or
hospitals, where more acute and specialized medical care is provided.
