Cable filling compounds
and dielectric fluids
Where there is a need for water blocking or insulation inside
a cable, H&R ChemPharm has a solution.
The cable compound business is based in the UK, with
additional production capability in Australia, South Africa,
Thailand and Turkey. Worldwide, customers are supported
by a team of experienced sales personnel and an extensive
network of agents and distributors.
H&R is believed to be the only manufacturer in the industry
to offer solutions for telecommunication, fibre-optic, medium
and high voltage power cables, joints and accessories.
The product range originates from the globally recognised
Dussek Campbell and BP cable compound brands. These
include Insojell, Dijell and Naptel petroleum jellies, Optifill
and Rheogel thixotropic gels for filling and flooding, the
T series of dielectric fluids for high voltage AC paper insu-
lated cables, Napelec and ND impregnating compounds
for MV DC cables, and T2015 for EHV DC paper insulated
cables.
Innovative product development has yielded many new
products in both the telecommunication and energy cable
sectors, including the H2000 range of hydrogen-absorbing
gels for OPGW, OPPC and submarine fibre optic cables, and
Sahara, particulate-free water swelling coating technology
offering exciting new opportunities for cable design in the
future. In addition, tracer technology solutions offer rapid
leak location in low-pressure oil-filled HV cable networks.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of H&R Wasag, H&R
ChemPharm materials knowledge base derives from access
to the parent company’s extensive range of products, as
well as close cooperation with other chemical manufacturers
across the world.

The International Wire &
Machinery Association and
International Tube Association are
respectively sponsors of the 10th
Tekno/Tube Arabia 2011, taking
place in Dubai from 8th to 11th
January 2011. These concurrent
events are well established as key
trade fairs for the very important
Arab and Gulf States markets.
Visitors from Africa and India are
also attracted to the exhibition. The IWMA and ITA share
a joint stand at Tekno/Tube Arabia and are offering at-cost
Oasis exhibitor packages (see below). An application form

Tekno, International Trade Fair for Industrial Machinery,
Metalworking and Machine Tools takes place in halls
1 and 2 at the Dubai International Convention and
Exhibition Centre in the UAE. It incorporates Tube Arabia
for exhibitors of tube and pipe manufacturing machines,
accessories and allied processes whilst Tekno includes
wire manufacturing and finishing machinery, cable
stranding machines and fastener and spring making
technology.

Other stands: €6,375 for 18m2, €8,250 for 24m2. These
prices are for row positions. The local organisers impose
a small surcharge for 2-sides open and 3-sides open
booths of €150 and €200 respectively (limited availability).
There is no management charge for ITA/IWMA members.
Non-members charge is £175 plus VAT (includes one
year’s free membership of ITA for two persons or one
year’s free corporate membership of the IWMA). A budget
booth is available on request (ask for details), but the
deluxe version is recommended as excellent value for
presenting a better image.
Potential UK exhibitors should note that a UKTI
Government support grant is available subject to qualifying
criteria and availability.
