The popular 2010 event took place on 3
rd
February in the UK. As part of the celebrations
for the IWMA’s 40

anniversary the association’s executive board had decided that all
proceeds from the lunch would be given to several charities.
Apart from payments received from member companies for their tables
at the lunch the total amount raised was augmented by cash donations
collected on the day. As a result £3,200 was raised.
The IWMA has made donations to Unicef; Cancer Research
(for breast cancer and prostate cancer research specifically);
and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Enduring popularity of the IWMA
annual dinner dance
Stratford-on-Avon in the UK is universally known as
the birthplace of William Shakespeare. It was also the
“birthplace” of the IWMA’s annual dinner dance, which in
those days took place in the same hotel, on the same day
as the annual general meeting.
This ever-popular social event has evolved over the
last thirty-six years, relocating to London and providing
members with an opportunity to enjoy a full weekend break
in the capital in addition to the dinner dance itself.
The 2010 function will take place at the Royal Garden Hotel,
High Street Kensington on Friday 26
th
November. Members
booking and paying early for the weekend can take
advantage of a discounted rate.
In recognition of the IWMA’s 40
th
anniversary this year
the Secretariat will be doing its utmost to organise a truly
unforgettable evening and it is hoped that members will
make every effort to support the event.
This year, Foxton Dies Ltd from
Cleckheaton, England is celebrating its
60
th
anniversary. Established by Frank
Fox in 1950, in a small wooden shed,
the company has grown from a small,
local concern into a major worldwide
manufacturer of tungsten carbide wire
drawing dies.
Engineering excellence and customer
service remain cornerstones of the
company, but managing director
Darrell Fox, son of the founder, takes
a progressive approach to the future of
the business.
Mr Fox explains: “We are well known
throughout the world for our quality
and reliability, but we really want to
strengthen our message even more.
Our customers include manufacturers
of wire, bar, cables, jewellery, reinforced
concrete, tyres and many more, but
new applications are being found all
the time. Our experience in industry
means that we can find solutions for all
types of manufacturing challenges.”
As a result, Foxton Dies is constantly
on the lookout for talented and reliable
agents to represent the company
overseas. A new company brochure
and website will be available from June
to help spread the word.
Both round and shaped wire drawing
dies are a speciality, produced to the
highest quality, and many other types
of products are manufactured including
extrusion, spinner and guide dies. A
cleaning and repair service is also
offered, along with various ancillary
products.
Dies can be supplied, often from stock,
in any quantity and to any schedule
to meet the customer’s specific
requirements.
Foxton Dies looks forward to serving
customers old and new for many more
years to come.
