Mission statements
The mission of UNEP:
"To provide leadership and encourage partnership in
caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and
enabling nations and people to improve their quality of
life without compromising that of future generations."
The mission of UNEP's Division of Early Warning
and Assessment (DEWA):
"To keep under review the state of the global environ-
ment, assess global and regional environmental trends,
and provide early warning information on environmen-
tal threats."
GRID-Arendal contributes to UNEP's Division of Early
Warning and Assessment.
Tim Foresman, Director of UNEP-DEWA:
"GRID-Arendal is UNEP's key centre
with regards to building not only
premier environmental information net-
works, but also in assisting developing
nations reach their potential for using
this network to build their capacity for assessing the
environment and improving their options for
sustainable development."
