Partner work can also be incorporated into the Warm-Up routine, however the coach must remain
vigilant if using these exercises as injuries can easily occur if young athletes do not adhere to the
instructions. The following exercises will be of most benefit if the young athlete is partnered with
someone of similar height and build.
Throwers’ Roll
This exercise should be performed slowly five times in both directions and it is also a good test of
co-ordination.
Pushing Circle
The young athletes should stand facing each other at approximately arms length apart. They should
then place their hands on each other’s shoulders and lean forwards taking the weight. Encourage
them to drive with their legs to push their partner and slowly move their feet and body in either a
clockwise or anti-clockwise direction to circle round.
