Components has introduced TE Connectiv-
ity’s Nector M power system series, which aims
to provide the construction industry with in-
creased design flexibility and seamless integra-
tion into new and existing designs. Engineered
to provide a pluggable connectivity solution for
outdoor and harsh environments, the series is
ideal for designers and contractors operating in
many industries including electrical and light-
ing installations that require more flexibility in
distributing power and data to various devices
within buildings.
The Nector M series is a flexible, fully plug-
gable, modular wiring, sealed connector and
cabling system for permanent power and data
circuit electrical installations. It also provides a
simple reconfigurable plug-and-play alternative
to traditional hard-wired electrical connections.
The multi-functional modular system provides
design consistency with the same-size knock-
out diameter for all position sizes and offers
optimum flexibility, as the circular form factor
helps simplify routing and reduces installation
time and waste.
The connectors have closed-barrel pin and
socket crimped-wire terminals, and are avail-
able in white and UV-resistant black with posi-
tive locking and multiple keying options to help
provide for rapid error-free installation. The en-
hanced one-connector solution addresses pow-
er data and control requirements and provides
the ability to engineer, design and build power
distribution units, electrical devices and cable
assemblies off-site, resulting in reduced on-site
labour costs, increased efficiency, and improved
reliability.
The portfolio offers a complete range of
three-, five-, six- and seven-pole pluggable
electrical installation components for indoor
applications with free hanging, panel/chassis-
mount, PCB-mount and power splitter solu-
tions. The three-pole systems are ideal for use
in ceiling, wall, pendant and furniture lighting
fixtures that require a ground connection in
residential or commercial retail spaces. The
multi-phase systems provide the power and
signal connections required in horticultural
and lighting control applications (5-pole), and
in emergency lighting systems or for colour-
control lighting capability (seven-pole). The
range also features a five-position splitter that
provides power, signal and control connec-
tion options for multiple lighting and electrical
devices. Further devices will be added to the
range over the next few months.
The connectors have operating tempera-
tures between –40 °C and up to 70 °C, provide
an IP20 seal rating, and are available with an
IEC 61535 rating of 7 A up to 20 A at 400 V
ac, and a UL 1977 rating of 10 A up to 20 A at
600 V ac, making the connectors suitable for
use almost anywhere in the world. As well as
meeting IEC61535 standards, the power sys-
tem solution is designed to meet the UL1977
guidelines, and the sealed portfolio is IP67 rated,
which makes it an ideal solution for outdoor and
high-humidity lighting applications.
The TE Connectivity Nector M connector
range is available from RS Components.

AFRICA LED EXPO FOCUSING ON DEVELOPMENTS
AND INNOVATIONS IN LIGHTING
A
frica LED expo is a focused International exhibition for professionals
to see the latest developments and innovations in the LED lighting
industry. The expo will take place from 7 to 9 September in Hall 1 at
the Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg.
The expo will be co-located with Sign Africa with its own dedicated area
as there is a distinct synergy with application of the respective products
such as printed wall coverings, printed window graphics, way finding sig-
nage, plexiglass, perspex and other composite materials used with signage
and building design. The FESPA Africa and Africa Print expos will run
alongside Africa LED and Sign Africa.
Exhibitors will have an opportunity to share knowledge and products so
that best practices can be communicated to stakeholders and visitors can
attend lighting lectures at the conference hosted at the exhibition.
The event will focus on: architectural lighting; decorative lighting; com-
mercial lighting; entertainment and gaming lighting; and industrial lighting.
Visitors to the expo will include architects; lighting designers; commercial
property owners; electrical engineers; ad agencies; the hospitality industry;
casino/gaming industry and illumination professionals.
Entry to the show is free. Register online to receive your confirmation
