LIGHTING
LEGRAND’S
Arteor wiring devices combine stylish
design and leading-edge technology to offer wiring
devices with numerous functions and various fin-
ishes that meet the requirements of basic electrical
functions, as well as complicated and demanding
automation tasks.
Included in the Arteor portfolio of lighting con-
trols are Energy Class A bedside reading lights,
available in white or magnesium, with the option
of a round or square base.
These two module bedside reading lights,
which offer directional lighting, are fitted with
maintenance-free LEDs, with a 3 000 K colour
temperature and neutral white colour. Other fea-
tures include screw terminals, a power input of
3.3 W and a luminous flux of 110 lumen – equiva-
lent to 15 W incandescent.
Arteor reading lights are conveniently installed
in the bedhead and are suitable for direct con-
nection to a 230 V mains power supply. These
devices have an integrated on/off and dimmer
control. A flexible cable allows the unit’s head
to swivel for precise lighting and user conveni-
ence. These reading lights offer a service life of
about 4 000 hours. Mechanisms are supplied
with rocker plates, to be equipped with support
frames and plates.
Other Arteor devices for visual indication in-
clude illuminated and overdoor lighting units, as
well as skirting lights.

LED LUMINAIRE PORTFOLIO
FOR PROFESSIONALS
LEDVANCE
offers electrical contractors eight easy-to-install product
ranges with attractive cost-benefit ratios via the electrical wholesale
sector, says James Clifford, marketing and communications for LED-
VANCE in South Africa.
“From July this year, LEDVANCE became a legislatively independent
subsidiary of OSRAM and now offer a portfolio of needs-based LED
luminaires for professional use in all common applications,” says Clif-
ford. “Electrical contractors will soon find LEDVANCE-branded energy-
efficient luminaires in the electrical wholesale sector. The products
feature good cost-benefit ratios, especially simple mounting, concise
designs and, of course, durability.”
He explains that the new portfolio of LED luminaires for professional
applications, sourced by electrical contractors via the electrical wholesale
trade, currently consists of the eight product families:
downlights; spot lights; damp proof luminaires; linear;
high bay; panel; surface circular and floodlights.
“As direct replacements for luminaires fitted with
compact fluorescent lamps or halogen lamps, the 60
LEDVANCE products feature:
• Luminous efficacy up to 120 lumens per watt;
• Various colour temperatures;
• A rated service life of up to 50 000 hours; and
• Attractive cost-benefit ratios.
“The reliable product quality of LEDVANCE means
that there is a guarantee of up to five years,” says
Clifford, adding that the LEDVANCE portfolio will be
available in South Africa within the next two months.
“By simply replacing a downlight consisting of a
traditional luminaire and conventional compact fluo-
rescent lamps (two x 18 W; two x 26 W) with LED
lamps, energy savings of up to 60% are realised. The
external driver improves flexibility during mounting
enormously and the luminaire – thanks to its stand-
ard dimensions – fits into already existing cut-outs of
the same size.
“The spot from the same range, also with an ex-
ternal driver, directly replaces conventional halogen
spotlights (35 W, 50 W, 75 W) and is able to save up
to 90% in energy costs,” explains Clifford.
“With an IP65 protection rating and IK08 impact resistance, the new
damp proof luminaires are ideal for industrial applications, storage ar-
eas, workshops and parking lots. Electrical connection is without tools
and without the risk of electrostatic damage to the LED modules,” he
explains, adding, “through-wiring is also possible. Uniform light is emit-
ted with a wide distribution angle and energy costs are cut by up to half.
He says the LEDVANCE panel replaces conventional luminaires
equipped with 4 x 18 W or 4 x 14 W fluorescent lamps. These LED
luminaires have a flat housing (only 10.5 mm) and distribute highly
homogeneous light – the models with a UGR (Unified Glare Rating)
value of < 19 are also suitable for computer screen workplace lighting.
LEDVANCE provide a five-year guarantee on products from the panel
and damp proof ranges. The surface circular luminaires with diameters
of 350 mm and 400 mm can be installed as wall or ceiling luminaires
and can also be used in damp areas thanks to the IP44 protection. They
are also available with motion or daylight sensors. The highly uniform
light with either 3 000 or 4 000 Kelvin has a beamangle of 120 degrees
and the basic version saves up to 55% in electricity overheads.
The compact linear luminaires are available in four different versions
with lengths ranging from 300 to 1 500 mm. The luminaires are capa-
ble of illuminating long rooms because up to ten units can be mounted
in a row, and are offered in light colours 3 000 or 4 000 Kelvin as well
as with or without a switch.
