German families often spend their free time and vacations together. There are also opportunities
for children to attend camps or other vacation activities that do not include their parents. Berlin and
its surrounding area are full of activities for children. Listings of the numerous playgrounds can be
obtained at the city-information in the local town halls. Please find below some activities for

Zoological Garden
This is the first German zoo and opened in 1844. With 14,000 different species, it is one of the
most important and rare animal collections in the world.
