it was cognisant of the three most important factors to
a fleet operator – these being uptime, payload and fuel
consumption.
“The P410 was available with a prefabricated brick carri-
er chassis optimised for high payloads and excellent fuel
consumption figures. It has a Scania 12 speed Opticruise
Gearbox with retarder,” he continues.
The P410 is used primarily to deliver and unload roof
tiles across a vast area spanning most of the northern
and eastern provinces of the country. A full load compris-
es 6 000 tiles. The vehicle is fitted with a hydraulically
powered crane for loading and unloading and serves as
a delivery vehicle for concrete pipes when not running
roof tile loads. The double-steering wheels in the front of
the truck allow for a larger load capacity – a significant
contributor to product delivery operations. The crane-gr-
ab attachment enables a fast turnaround time as it can
handle 240 individual tiles per grab – a 60 % efficiency
improvement when compared with the previous method
of handling concrete roof tiles.

The Scania P410 CB 8 x 4 MHz Brick Carrier reduces operational costs
through increased uptime, heavier payload and fuel efficiency.
