CAPITAL EQUIPMENT NEWS

AUGUST 2016

E

ver mindful of customer needs and the

environment, Goscor Power Products

offers a high quality range of powerful,

water-friendly Fire Fighters that are ideally

suited to handle anything from small grass

fires to larger forestry applications.

With over 30 years of experience in the de-

velopment of Fire Fighting equipment, the

company’s rugged and reliable low, medium

and high pressure Fire Fighters are designed

and engineered to deliver important cost sav-

ing and safety benefits that enable farmers to

realise a rapid return on their investment.

“We empathise with our farmers who are un-

der extreme pressure owing to the the pro-

tracted weak economic climate as well as the

severe drought that is gripping our country,”

says Managing Director, Mark Bester. “In an

effort to come to the aid of our farmers we

have decided to introduce a low cost high

pressure Fire Fighter. Delivering on quality

and performance at an affordable price, this

unit is kind on the farmer’s pocket and on the

environment, boasting impressively low water

consumption. Ideal for grass fires, the unit is

powered by the new rugged and durable 7 HP

Rato engine, a compact, efficient and eco-

nomical power pack that does not compro-

mise on performance. “In fact,” says Bester,

“when it comes to performance this unit is

more powerful than most of its closest rivals.

Putting customers first is part of our value

proposition and we trust that offering farmers

this unit at a reduced cost will assist them in

protecting their livestock and crops.”

The Fire Fighters feature a Polyethylene 620 ℓ

low profile water tank with a large 450 mm

diameter lid for fast filling and easy cleaning.

Alongside struts on the tank ceiling and sides

as well as baffles on the bottom of the tank

interior, the step tank’s low centre of gravity

limits water movement for enhanced vehicle

stability during transportation. Corner struts

facilitate safe and secure tie-down of the unit

on the back of the vehicle. The black tank in-

terior blocks UV rays to prevent algae build-up

that can lead to pump blockage.

The Fire Fighters are also extremely ver-

satile as their rugged pumps are equipped

with stainless steel pistons and acid resistant

seals, making the units suitable for cattle dip

and fruit tree spraying insecticides.

Goscor Power Products is part of the

Goscor Group of Companies

and leads the Southern

African market as a specialist distributor of a

holistic range of compact power equipment

including pumps, generators, welders,

firefighters, engines, rammers, rollers and

compactors. The product portfolio, including

parts and spares, is readily available from the

company’s dealer support network across

South and southern Africa including Botswana,

Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia.

MARTHINUSEN & COUTTS

enhances its power

generation business capabilities

The acquisition of Generator Technologies

(Gentech) by Marthinusen & Coutts has fur-

ther enhanced this Actom division’s capacity;

this time specifically on the power generation

side of its operations. The acquisition was ef-

fective 1 March 2016.

Gentech was established in 1990 and over

the past 26 years has established a reputa-

tion of providing professional service to most

of the African continent and the Middle East.

Its operation has been integrated into

Marthinusen & Coutts’ existing 14 000 m²

power generation facility in Benoni.

Mike Chamberlain, operations executive for

Marthinusen & Coutts, says that the acquisi-

tion has enabled the division to bring addition-

al valued skills and equipment on board and

will strengthen Marthinusen & Coutts’ capa-

bility. Notably, Gentech is well respected in the

sugar industry.

Its previous owner, Butch Mezker has been

appointed as the general manager of the

Marthinusen & Coutts Electrical Power Gen-

eration Division. Mezker holds government

certificates for both mechanical and electrical

engineering and has extensive experience

with all types of generators.

The Marthinusen & Coutts Electrical Power

Generation Division now comprises two oper-

ations; the Benoni operation and its Sasolburg

based mechanical repair facility, ACTOM Tur-

bo Machines. The latter facility was brought on

board following the acquisition of Cetus Turbo

Machinery in November 2014. Together, these

operations provide complete electro-mechan-

ical solutions to customers.
