Nelson expands to serve Mexico
Nelson Global Products has announced
its expansion into Mexico with a new
manufacturing and distribution facility
in Monterrey.
The company will serve the major
commercial truck, off-highway and
recreational vehicle manufacturers that
have production facilities in the region.
The company will manufacture
precision-formed tubing and sheet
metal structural fabrications, along with
exhaust tubing, mufflers, and emissions
system components for its broad range
of commercial vehicle and outdoor
power customers.
The 180,000ft
2
facility will be equipped
with the latest technology in tube- and
flat-bed lasers, as well as manual and
robotic welding cells. CNC tube benders
will assure OEM customers of tight
tolerance controls and ultimate quality.
“Expanding our excellent service
and supply, with closer proximity to
our customer base in this important
North America region, aligns perfectly
with our company’s global strategic
growth plan,” said Tom Gosnell, CEO
of Nelson Global Products. “Our new
facility in Mexico is in direct response
to our customers who sought local
technical and manufacturing support
and reduced logistics costs. Our new
facility demonstrates our commitment
to grow internationally with our partners.
Monterrey is our fifth international
location, and we’ll have six facilities by
the end of this year when our second
plant in India opens.”
Experienced manufacturing executive
Alejandro Martinez will lead the
Monterrey operation, with employment
expected to total 220 production and
administrative personnel within 12-16
months.
“The new facility’s success will be
based on a strong culture of safety and
quality and will become the customers’
supplier benchmark. Utilising the most
motivated people from the Monterrey
area and advanced production
equipment, we’ll deliver an excellent
customer experience and positively
impact the local community,” said
Mr Martinez.
Additional products will be added
to the new Monterrey operation,
as production increases and new
customer parts numbers are launched.
Other facilities in the Nelson
manufacturing network that build
similar products in the USA for other
OEM customers include operations in
Clinton, Tennessee; Black River Falls,
Wisconsin; and Cambridge, Minnesota.
During the past year, Nelson announced
its second acquisition in Brazil, with
the latest being a structural tube
manufacturer – TuboPress in Araucaria.
It is supported by the manufacturing
operation at Envall in Santa Rosa, Rio
Grande do Sul.

“Subcontractors and suppliers play
a critical role in our ability to deliver
projects to our customers with the

of Bechtel’s power global business
unit. “The expertise and innovation

to work collaboratively to meet
milestones; and meeting or exceeding
project expectations in aspects of
safety, construction performance,
technical expertise and environmental
compliance.
Nominations were submitted by
Bechtel project procurement and
