Connecting joints also support
cable protection tubing
Reiku has introduced connecting
joints for corrugated cable protection
tubing measuring 23mm and 36mm
in nominal diameter. With these items,
the manufacturer caters to a growing
trend for small-sized industrial robots
in automation technology. A joint of this
type typically connects two corrugated
tubes of identical nominal width. In this
case, both tubes can rotate through
360° in their seat so that no torsion
moment will be transmitted.
Instead of connecting one tube to
another, the joint may also link a tube
to a cable star – a device employed to
secure cables and to seal off the tube
end. Alternatively, one side of the joint
is configurable as a ball trumpet having
rounded edges to protect against
abrasion. The two halves of the split
assembly are held in gripping clamps
whose ball-shaped seat permits up to
±11º angular offset. The clamps can be
attached to the robot by means of rotary
bases allowing the system a 360° orbital
rotation.
The total degrees of freedom obtained
and the low mounting height of Reiku’s
joint systems give the robot a wide
action range, even with high-speed
movements, and allows it to be used
flexibly even in narrow working spaces.
At the same time, mechanical loads
in the cable protection system are
significantly reduced in this manner,
supporting an extended system lifetime.
PAVGB type Reiku connecting joints
have been marketed in a nominal width
of 70mm, matching the dimensions of
conventional industrial robots. The new
parts complement Reiku’s extensive
range of cable protection systems for
use in OEM applications and customers’
spare part stocks. The manufacturer
produces these connecting joints from
a specially modified, cadmium-free and
halogen-free flame resistant polyamide
6 to ensure an optimum protection of
conductors and cables.
Reiku has also rounded out its portfolio
of cable stars, which provide pull-relief
for the cable and hose bundles exiting
from the corrugated tube while also
protecting the tube against an ingress
of foreign matter that might accelerate
wear. With the launch of the new TKKSB-
48 type, all common nominal diameters
from 23 to 70mm are now available.
All sizes can be ordered with different
standard drilled-hole patterns, as well
as in a blank version.

Butterfly valves
Val-Matic’s American-BFV
®
butterfly
valves for shut-off service in water
systems are designed to provide long
life, low headloss and trouble-free
performance.
Features such as standard epoxy interior,
continuous uninterrupted seating, and
the Tri-Loc™ seat retention system
allow for field adjustment/replacement
without the need for special tools or
epoxies. American-BFV butterfly valves
are available in 150B and 250B AWWA
classes with flanged end connections in
sizes 3" to 144", and mechanical joint
end connections in 4" to 48". Wafer
style butterfly valves are designed with
ANSI 125 flanges or ISO PN10 and
PN16 flanges in sizes 4" to 24".
The valves fully comply with AWWA
C504 and C516, are certified NSF/ANSI
61 for drinking water, and are NSF/ANSI
372 certified lead-free.
