technology was introduced in 2003, and the
output of PQF tubes is expected to reach
4 million tons by the end of 2008.
SMS Meer continuously enhances PQF
technology with hydraulically adjusted
three-roll arrangement. The latest plant
generation that will be installed at Anhui
Tianda, for example, has a maintenance-
friendly, modular design that allows standstill
times to be shortened, and productivity to
be increased. The wall thickness tolerance
of the finished tube is also improved.

www.sms-meer.deTop-class grinding and
deburring technology
Loeser GmbH is a major producer of
premium quality belt grinding, polishing,
brushing and deburring machinery for
all types of materials. New grinding
technologies enables quick combination
of rough stock removal, tolerance and fine
finishing with quick-change abrasive belts.
It also enables major time advantages
compared to stone grinding or turning.
The company’s machines can be equipped
with a number of stations in different
combinations – open or closed and fully
modular – that are easy to upgrade with
additional stations. This patented technology
is called pressure controlled grinding and
is ideal for high production combined with
low costs in belt consumption. Loeser
claims that is far in advance of conventional
grinding methods.
A high number of stainless steel comp-
anies have installed Loeser’s automatic
centreless grinding and polishing RPS
lines. These lines consist of a wet pre-
grinding module and polishing with paste
module for decorative polishing to a high-
level lustre.
Loeser has also introduced the RPS 376
high-speed abrasive belt-
grinding machine for
extremely high stock
removal
applications,
which offers an alternative
to turning.
Also available is a
centreless grinding and
microfinish
RPS+SF
model
for
finishing
of pistons, bars and
axles. These machines
achieve a high frequency
microfinish to reach super
fine consistent finish
quality up to 0,004µm
Ra. A new cylinder finisher HSD+SF is also
available for tolerance and super-finish.
Applications include surface grinding and
polishing of hydraulic tubes and rods; round
and strip bars; heavy sections, shapes and
mill products and billets; round and profile
tubes; motor and hydraulics components;
printing cylinders, rollers and rolls, axes;
sinter, punched, moulded and after laser
cutting parts.
Work can take place before and after
coating, removing oxide layer, teflon coating,
burnishing, and surface improvement up
to Ra=0,004m. Materials include carbon
and stainless steel and alloys, copper,
aluminium, bronze, chrome- and nickel
coated parts, ceramic, and synthetics.

www.loeser.comPremium solution for inner grooving copper tube
MRB Schumag, UK, has achieved success with a number of contracts for inner
grooving lines from commercial inner grooved tube producers across the United States
and the Middle East.
The inner grooving lines combine a revolutionary high-speed spindle motor with proven
Veegroove Wheel drawing technology. The lines not only ensure a high-speed tube
grooving unit, but also the fast and safe drawing of the tube through it. Lubrication
systems with flow and pressure monitoring, tailored to suit the high speeds of the
grooving process, safeguard the smooth passage of quality tube through the line.
MRB Schumag’s premium solution affords line operators the opportunity to take a
sample of their inner grooved tube, whilst the line is running at full speed, meaning
quality control does not come at
the expense of productivity.
The company has also focused
on production efficiency, with
customer feedback suggesting
that its patented Reciprocating
Die technology is significantly
increasing the life of inner-
grooving tooling. To further
alleviate the increasing cost of
tube production, two of the inner
grooving lines can be operated
simultaneously, back-to-back by
just one operator.
With demand for commercial inner grooved tube continuing to grow in China, MRB
Schumag looks to continue its success and offer this premium solution to the market,
designed with the needs of the producer in mind.
