X-Ray 2060:
now available with a
new measuring range
Sikora, Germany, has introduced the
latest development to X-Ray 2060 with
a new measuring range of 70mm instead
of 60mm. This improvement will be of
particular use to the area of composite
tube production where it will be used for
measuring ranges adapted to the specific
field of application.
The X-Ray 2060 is best equipped for
online quality control of the inner and
outer diameter, wall thickness, ovality and
eccentricity on hose and tube extrusion
lines. With x-ray technology, the hose or
tube is transilluminated by x-ray. Measuring
values are continuously available within
fractions of a second.
Users of the X-Ray 2060 can achieve a fast
centring of the crosshead and a permanent
measurement as well as control of the
extrusion line under consideration of the
minimum values. The measuring values of
the X-Ray 2060 are displayed graphically
and numerically on a 15" TFT-colour monitor
on the processor system Ecocontrol 2000.
In case of an eccentricity, the wall thickness
is displayed as an eccentric ring. In the
graphical display, the position where the
wall thickness is thinnest is highlighted as
a bright coloured segment. As standard,
the X-Ray 2060 provides a statistical
evaluation of the measuring values, which
are graphically displayed in a length or
time related diagram in combination with a
graphic display for the statistical distribution
of the single measuring values and
statistical data.
The system ensures that calibration
procedures are only carried out during
production before initial operation and not
afterwards. With the measuring values
available immediately at the start-up of the
line and with the continuous measurement,
the X-Ray 2060 becomes a critical tool. It
is of essential importance for tube and
hose extrusion lines where, beside tight
tolerances for the products, the economy
of production and quality control are
important.
The measurement of wall thickness,
eccentricity as well as the inner and outer
diameter is increasingly important in
global competition. For customers in the
hose and tube industry two criteria are
of main importance: continuous quality
assurance and the reduction of material
over consumption to achieve a lasting cost
reduction.
The X-Ray 2060 guarantees a continuous
online quality control and thus provides the
highest technological potential for savings
with regard to the elimination of start-up
scrap and material over consumption.
