CHEAM School is one of the
oldest prep schools in the
country with its origins in the
seventeenth century.
The school became co-educa-
tional in 1997 and offers parents
the opportunity for education
from three to 13+ for their sons
and daughters.
Set in 100 acres of glorious coun-
tryside, it is the perfect school
for children to spend their early
school days.
The school’s aim is to develop
a caring community where
everyone feels respected, valued
and motivated to thrive; so that
the children leave Cheam confi-
dent and responsible.
Classes are small, maximum18,
and pupils are prepared for the
major senior independent
schools.
The classrooms are light and
bright with interactive white
boards throughout and excellent
facilities for design and technol-
ogy, art, IT, science, sport and
a strong music and drama
department.
In August the drama department
took a cast of 15 pupils to
perform
Holes
by Louis Sachar
at The Edinburgh Fringe and
they all enjoyed their six sell-out
performances.
Most of the children learn a
musical instrument and there
are choirs for all ages, several
orchestras and a large jazz band.
The sporting life at Cheam is
very impressive and all the
children love it.
Rugby, football and cricket are
the major team games for the
boys, with netball, rounders
and hockey for the girls.
There is a heated outdoor
swimming pool for use during
the summer term and six all-
weather tennis courts and a
nine-hole golf course; so there is
something for everyone.
