Ferpinta, Portugal, manufactures a range of
steel tubes and hollow structural sections.
Based on quality raw material, all steel coils
are identified during each technological
stage to enable quick and efficient tracking.
The company’s steel tubes are produced
using high frequency welding based on a
comprehensive technological process.
The coils are longitudinally sheared to the
exact width of the desired profile. The steel
arc is moved to the advanced formatting,
welding and calibration lines where the
product is manufactured according
to the necessary standard. The quality
department and laboratory are involved
in every step of the process, including
strict chemical and mechanical control
of the product during the manufacturing
process.
The company has recently opened a new
factory for structural tubes. Ferpinta’s range
includes cold rolled steel tubes, hot rolled
steel (pickled and oiled), hot-dip zinc coated
steel, structural hollow sections (range up
to 12"), steel tubes suitable for welding and
threading, special sections, open sections,
coils and length sheet.
FerpintaSAiscertifiedinPortugalaccordingto
N°92/CEP.23 by the IPQ. The quality system
was established according to the standard
NP EN ISO 9001 by the IQ NET, which
was recognised by all the members of this
distinguished network.

cutting system
Tube Tech Machinery, Italy, has installed
one of the first models of the FL400 3D
tube laser cutting system at Wegener
Stahl Service GmbH, Germany. Wegener
is a service centre specialising in the
production of components from sheet metal
for industrial fields, from structural steel to
heavy transport.
Due to the new plant supplied by Tube
Tech Machinery, the customer can now
offer tubular products of various sections
(round, square, rectangular) with diameters
up to 406mm. The plant is able to machine
long tubes up to 14,000mm, which can be
loaded by bundle or chain.
The company can also transform its tubes
into finished products by making holes,
slots, inclined cuts and chamfers with very
high speed and precision. This is achieved
with the use of linear motors and torque on
the five working axes of the 3D cutting head
and on the rotations of the mandrels.
The machine is designed with four mandrels
moving independently, so that while the
