news

CbS Technologies, India, has developed a 100%

consumable-free and maintenance expense-free portable

wire drawing oil centrifuging machine, specifically for wire

drawing application.

The company claims that the machine offers the following

advantages: increases die life to more than double;

ensures the maximum speed of the wire drawing oil; helps

production of bright finished wire; reduces consumption of

lubricant; helps recovery of 0.5% to 1% of the material

from the lubricant; repeat pump failures are avoided; and

there is no chocking of oil lines.

The machine has a 10kg material holding capacity, and

can be cleaned in two to five minutes.

PTFE films and tapes

DeWAL Industries, USA, supplies

high-performance PTFE films and

tapes to the wire and cable industry.

The company’s skived PTFE is used

for its high temperature resistance,

dielectric strength and low friction.

Virgin or conductive, and as thin as

0.013mm, it is often used in

aerospace, power and high flex

cable applications.

DeWAL’s unsintered PTFE is used

primarily as insulation and outer

jacketing for wire and cable at

temperatures up to 246°C, from

0.038mm to 0.508mm, and with a

density of 1.5g/cc. The company has

developed a complete line of vibrant,

RoHS-compliant colours, and can

add other fillers to meet the

requirements of highly engineered

wire and cable.

The company has also developed

technology to manufacture high

tensile, low density film – as low as

0.4g/cc.

These films are used to wrap primary

wires in high flex cable, and other

products in this family were

developed to meet demanding

coaxial cable applications, where low

signal loss is critical. DeWAL uses a

proprietary process to laminate its

fluoropolymer films with dissimilar

materials – often elastomers or melt

processable fluoropolymers.

All DeWAL slit film and laminated

products can be flat pad packaged

and, depending on dimensions,

some skived, unsintered and low

density PTFE can be traverse

packaged. Pyramid packaging is

also used for some skived film and

narrow films.
