New butterfly valve
extends range
Saint-Gobain Pipelines has extended its
range of valves with the launch of the
PAM Eurostop butterfly valve in DN150
to DN2000. Designed primarily as an
isolation valve, the PAM Eurostop can
also, in certain conditions, be used for
flow control.
Describing the key benefits of the PAM
Eurostop, product manager Richard
Morecroft said, “For larger diameter
pipelines, butterfly valves offer both cost
savings and installation benefits when
compared with gate valves. On sizes
above DN300 the use of butterfly valves
can help reduce the overall project cost.
They are also smaller, lighter to handle
and easy to install.”
Unlike gate valves, butterfly valves
operate within the pipe, so no additional
cover depth to accommodate the valve
is required.
The PAM Eurostop is a double-flanged
valve with manual or actuator operated
options. Its double eccentric disc, with
the centre of rotation of the valve offset
in relation to the gasket line and pipeline
axis, results in lower torque, leading to
less wear and longer life.
The hydrodynamic design of the disc
also ensures minimal loss of pressure
when the valve is open.
An automatic gasket ensures a high
performance, leak free seal while bi-
directional sealing means that the valve
can be installed in either orientation.
The body and disc of the PAM Eurostop
butterfly valves are made from ductile
iron with shafts, pins and screws
manufactured from high performance
stainless steel.
Third party accredited to the stringent
EN 1074-2, the Saint-Gobain Pipelines
PAM Eurostop range is tested to an
endurance level of 2,500 cycles.
Saint-Gobain Pipelines has also
launched a set of bound datasheets and
a brochure featuring the new valves.
Thirteen datasheets cover a
comprehensive range of valves,
couplings and flange adaptors, suitable
for water and sewer applications.
Self-aligning pipe couplings
Tuf-Lok ring grip pipe couplings are low cost, heavy-duty self-aligning and self-
grounded pipe couplings suitable for most applications where pipe ends need
to be connected.
The pipe couplings install quickly and easily, reducing installation costs.
Reinstallation is also fast and easy, making the couplings suitable for
applications where assembly and disassembly are required.
With the Tuf-Lok ring grip pipe couplings,
the pipe ends do not require machining
or grooving, and do not become marred
or damaged when making a connection.
Pipeline integrity and reuse of the pipe is
not compromised.
The couplings’ toughness is important
for many applications, including those
with high dynamic loads or applications
where the pipeline integrity is extremely
important. The Tuf-Lok pipe couplings
can cope with vibration and excessive
pipe movement.
A special design feature built into the gasket of the couplings allows them to
handle both high pressure and full vacuum pressure conditions. Even high
external pressure conditions are accommodated, so the Tuf-Lok pipe couplings
are leak proof from the outside as well as the inside. The leak proof connection
is maintained even when the pipe couplings are completely submerged under
water – a feature not always achievable with other pipe couplings.
A cost saving feature of the Tuf-Lok ring grip pipe couplings is that they can be
installed on almost any kind of metal pipe, irrespective of the wall thickness.
They can also be used on mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and most other
thick or thin wall pipe.
