A European solution for piling pipes
Hannibal Pipes SA, based in the south of
Spain, close to Cartagena Port, is a joint
venture operation with Byard Spiral Mill.
Investment has included two complete
lines for manufacturing SAW spirally
welded pipes with diameters from 8" to
100" and thickness up to 25mm.
Hannibal Pipes can rely on the
internationally recognised Byard Spiral
Mill technology for manufacturing
and testing equipment as well as for
the design of system and production
processes. In addition the company
can count on a dedicated area within
the Spanish port of Cartagena, where it
is possible to weld piling pipes and to
load piles into vessels for shipment to
Mediterranean or Atlantic destinations.
Cartagena Port, linked by railway with
Hannibal Pipes’ facility, is located only
100 nautical miles from the North Africa
coast.
Anti-corrosion coating, if requested and
depending on project specifications, can
be applied directly at Hannibal Pipes’
factory, or alternatively at Cartagena
Port.
The welds are all controlled and certified.
Hannibal Pipes is a partner of the Murcia
region-based Metallurgic Technology
Centre, which has innovative quality
control equipment at its disposal. In
addition to its Spanish production
facility, Hannibal Pipes has an office in
Switzerland focused on sourcing hot rod
coils on the international markets.
Historically,pilingpipesforMediterranean
and Atlantic projects had been supplied
by small producers located close to
projects and by a number of Turkish
companies represented by local
agents. Because of size and internal
procedures, such manufacturers can
be flexible in adjusting production and
delivery schedule in accordance with
project needs.
Hannibal Pipes’ approach is aimed
at changing the piling pipes scenario,
becoming a unique company capable
of supplying products manufactured in
Europe, but at very competitive prices.
This result can be achieved thanks to
raw material purchasing optimisation,
logistic synergy and innovative
production methods.
The company has an installed
capacity of around 110,000 mt/yr, and
having two production lines has the
opportunity to perform more projects at
the same time. Hannibal Pipes’ quality
and environmental management are in
accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and
ISO 14001:2004 respectively, both
certified by inspection and certification
company SGS.
