Peter Capaldi's time in the TARDIS draws to a close with the

last six episodes of season ten.

The Pyramid at the End of

the World

and

The Lie of the Land

continue the story arc of

the malevolent monks, who mount a most unconventional

invasion of Earth; the Ice Warriors return alongside their

resurrected Queen (and a bunch of Victorian Redcoat

soldiers) in

Empress of Mars

; and what really happened to

the Roman Ninth Legion is revealed in

Eaters of the Light

.

stories of Steven Moffat's reign and

sees the return of the Mondasian Cybermen (for the first time since 1966),

as well as John Simm's Master. With regeneration energy swirling around

Capaldi's Doctor, the big question that remains is who will be next?

DOCTOR WHO –

SERIES 10: PART 2

Wentworth Miller and Dominic

Purcell return for this 'event

series' reboot, which picks up

eight years after the last

Prison

Break

and ties up a lot of loose

ends. However, there are some

dubious undertakings, so if you

suspend your disbelief, you’ll

quite enjoy this action-packed

reunion. Purcell and Miller’s

characters virtually swap roles

this time ‘round, with Lincoln

putting his head down and

trying to get his brother Michael

out of harm’s way. If this new

series does one thing right,

it’s closure – surely there’s no

conceivable way to get another

season following this one's

conclusion. Or is there?

EVENT SERIES

Release Date:

Format:

Coming from Fox TV, the stable

that gave us

The X-Files

, it's

staggering in a way that this

less heralded mystery series has

outlasted the iconic partnership

of Mulder and Scully. However,

the 12-year run of

Bones

is a

testament to the wonderful

chemistry between co-stars Emily

Deschanel and David Boreanz as

the crime solving duo, and true to

its commitment to the devoted

fans of the series, their bond is the

primary focus of this sentimental

series finale. The writers have also

ensured they go out with a bang

– a kidnapping, personal tragedy,

and serial killer on the loose

pushes the Bones team to their

limits one last time.

Homeland

is back on home soil, confronting issues

of internal security and extremism in a polarising but

satisfying season. Carrie Matheson is now working as an

advocate for Muslim Americans in New York, but should

she be suspicious of a kid with a fervent desire to shoot

videos of terrorist attacks? She also has the ear of the

new Madame President-elect (ok, so the writers got that

bit wrong), who has a secret that makes her the target of

a muckraking talk show host. Behind the scenes is Dar

Adal, who's even more the shadowy puppetmaster this

season, manipulating events to serve his own agenda and threatening to

destroy Saul's reputation in the process. And then there's poor old Quinn,

now a paranoid, traumatised shell of a man following his ordeal in Berlin;

it's his plight and ultimate fate that viewers will be most invested in.

SEASON 6

If you've followed

Girls

this far,

you'll know that for the first

three seasons, Hannah (Lena

Dunham) and Adam (Adam

Driver) were the couple at the

nexus of this ensemble drama.

Things took a turn in series

four, however, when Adam

paired up with Hannah's bestie

Jessa (Jemima Kirke) following

an extended period of heat

and touchy-feely. According

to Dunham, it took a bit of

convincing to get co-creator

Jenni Konner on board, and it's

a hint to Dunham's masterplan

of sorts. In this sixth and

final season, the routes to

self-fulfilment remain just as

unpredictable.

THE FINAL SEASON

Release Date:

26/07/17

Format:

The adventures of monster hunter

Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli)

continue, as he uncovers a

local cult of Wesen – monsters

resembling those in the stories

of the Brothers Grimm. Think of

Grimm

as being like a cop show,

albeit with a supernatural twist.

Heading into the penultimate

season, Nick is feeling quite

derailed. He’s lost Juliette, his

mother, and now he’s got a kid

with Adalind – yeah, the same

Adalind that wasn’t exactly friendly.

The Wesen he's up against as a

Grimm are only becoming stronger

and more deadly, and the dreaded

Black Claw uprising is at his

doorstep. In other words, things

are looking, er, grim.
