Learning Styles Questionnaire

Peter Honey and Alan Mumford

Assessment and Workshop, 1.5 hours

If you want to improve your training results, start with

learning styles.

People vary not just in their learning skills, but in their learning styles. Knowledge of

your own learning style, and the styles of others, will help secure more effective learning.

Learning is a fundamental process that many people take for granted, conveniently

assuming that by the time they are adults, they have learned how to learn and need no

further assistance with the process.

The

Learning Styles Questionnaire

and its companion workbook will identify preferences

for one of four learning styles:

Activist, Reflector, Theorist,

or

Pragmatist.

Knowledge of

your own learning style, as well as the styles of others, will help secure more effective

learning if the knowledge is used rather than merely recorded. Perhaps the most

significant uses are:

Increased awareness of learning activities

Identification of areas in which an individual’s less effective learning process can

be improved

Advice on how the different learning styles influence the way they help others learn

Learning styles, like any other learned characteristic, are modifiable either at will or by a

change of circumstances.

The

Learning Styles Questionnaire

can be used to balance the learning styles of a group,

surface team difficulties, or to help managers get to know their employees.

What’s My Learning Style

What’s My Learning Style

is a quick and effective self assessment that accurately

identifies a preference for one of four learning styles: Direct, Spirited,

Considerate, or Systematic. In addition to becoming familiar with their

learning preferences, individuals will learn how to maximize the strengths of

that style, overcome any potential trouble spots, and develop the ability to

function using a variety of different styles.
