5.2 As with salaries, the City will offer a benefits program that maintains at least a mid-level
relationship with a competitive market.
5.3 The City of Greensboro complies with the laws and regulations, both Federal and State, which
apply to North Carolina local government benefits programs.
See the Benefits - Regulatory Issues policy on page 263.5.4 benefit eligible employees will be provided a benefits program consisting of both mandatory
and voluntary benefits.
See the Benefits - Active Employees policy on page 253.5.5 Other (not benefit eligible) employees will be covered by mandatory benefits only.
5.6 Retirees will be provided a benefit package unique to them. Eligibility, costs, and duration
of coverage will vary by benefit, retiree type, and length of service.

coverage, eligibility, and cost sharing. Such programs are subject to change at any time at the sole
discretion of the City.
6.0 PROCEDURES
The human resources department will publish benefit information in the benefits book as needed.
The City reserves the right to make changes in any of these benefit programs at any time. Any
substantive benefit changes will be reported in Latest News.
