The Four Truisms
In considering the need for additional reductions
in the volume of normal tissues irradiated:
1.
No advantage to any patient for any irradiation of any
normal tissue exists. Normal tissues are defined here
as tissues not suspected of involvement by tumor.
2.
Direct radiation complications never occur in
unirradiated tissues.
3.
That a smaller treatment volume is superior is not a
medical research question.
4.
One may only investigate the magnitude of the gain
or the cost of achieving that gain.
