Este enorme campo de dunas pertenecien-
te a la Reserva Natural de Maspalomas, está
ubicado en el extremo sur de la isla y es uno de
los principales atractivos turísticos de la zona.
Su curioso nombre proviene del guanche,
el idioma extinto hablado por los antiguos
aborígenes canarios, y significa ‘lo que empapa
y estropea el forraje’.

Maspalomas Nature Reserve is a large
dune field located in the far south of the island
and is one of the major tourist attractions
in the area. Its name comes from Guanche,
the now-extinct language of the aboriginal
Canarians, and means ‘that which covers and
spoils the forage’.

Dieses große, zum Naturschutzgebiet Re-
serva Natural de Maspalomas gehörende Dü-
nenfeld liegt am südlichen Rande der Insel und
ist eine der größten Touristenattraktionen der
Gegend. Der Name stammt aus dem Guanche,
der ausgestorbenen Sprache der ehemaligen
kanarischen Ureinwohner, und bedeutet „was
das Futter durchnässt und verdirbt“.
