On
the occasion of
the retirement of
Mr. James A. Denning from the office of
Taxing Master of the High Court of Justice,
which he filled for a period of twenty-two
years,
some members of
the Solicitors'
profession have made a presentation to him
to mark their appreciation of the courtesy
always extended by him to the members of
the profession in the discharge of his official
duties.
The presentation consisted of a pair of
solid silver Georgian period entree dishes, a
bracket chime clock in mahogany case, and
cheque. A leather bound book containing a
list of the names of the subscribers was
included in the presentation.
Owing to the state of Mr. Denning's health
the presentation of the gifts took place at a
meeting of the Committee held on the 26th
November, in the Council Chamber of the
Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.
Mr. Denning, who was accompanied by the
present Taxing Masters and Mr. Gill, attended
when Mr. M. E. Knight (President of the
Incorporated Law Society), who presided,
handed
to
the
recipient
the gifts,
and
conveyed to him the good wishes of the
subscribers.
Mr. Denning,
in
reply, expressed his
appreciation of
the gifts and his hearty
thanks to the donors.
The book containing a list of the names
of the subscribers will be in the office of the
Secretary of the Incorporated Law Society,
Four Courts, until the end of January, so
