braiding boundaries
Eurotekne Industriale (ETK) is at
the forefront of developing new
technology in the field of textile and
metallic braiding machines.
The company has over 35 years
experience in sophisticated tech-
nological markets. Eurotekne says its
true expertise lies in the design and
construction of braiding machines,
the latest of which the company
showcased at
wire 2006.
Its new machine is capable of working
both textiles and metals, for example
nomex fibre, tinned-copper fibre and
also optical fibres. This machine will
be of most interest to companies
working in the aeronautics industry.
ETK says:
“It will solve in an intelligent
way what was, until recently, thought
impossible.”
The company also manufactures
braiding machines to be used in the
production of carbon covered wire,
braided wire for stranded cables,
optic fibres, sheathing for tubes,
braided ropes and cords, fancy braids
and suture threads for surgery.

changes to create new
efficiencies for Wardwell
The emergence of China as a
location for establishing manu-
facturing facilities has enticed many
cable producers around the world
to open plants there, to take
advantage of lower costs and greater
overall efficiency.
Although this strategy has been
successful for many companies, a
downside seen by some of them has
been the lessening effectiveness of
their existing facilities in Europe and
North America, and negative impact
on their employees and suppliers.
Wardwell Braiding Machine Company
– a manufacturer of braiding and
rewinding equipment – established
a joint venture with two Japanese
partners in Shanghai earlier this year
to better serve its migrating customers
and to benefit from the lower-cost
manufacturing environment.

quality and production objectives
