Accounting
Society
T
he goal of the accounting is "intro–
duce students, who are interested,
to the field of accounting. It helps
expose them to the various aspects of the
field," said
Thom Morrison,
a member
of the society. They host speakers from
the government, the "big six" accounting
firms, and from industry. The topics of the
speakers include accounting ethics and
how accounting effects their business.
Other activities of the accounting society
included a tailgate party in the spring and
a clothing drive that benefited local chari–
ties. The accounting so_ciety is clos~ly_af–
filiated with the Beta Alpha-Psi fraterni–
ty.

Aikane O'Hawaii, Friends of Hawaii
T
he Hawaii Club is active and alive.
All thirty-two members meet week–
ly to discuss and share Hawaiian
culture and tradition. A majority of the
members are from Hawaii, but encourage
anyone to join in the festivities. A typical
meeting might involve cooking traditional
foods from the many ethnical groups that
shaped what is now known as the Hawai–
ian people. They also spend time planning
and organizing their first, annua Fund
Raiser, the Hawaiian Luau. "This is our
second year as a club," says club president,
Margo Mau. "The idea behind the luau is
to
bring the Hawaiian culture to U.S.D."
The club is having a great year and looks
forward to many more.
