Biology Club

T

he Biology Club is a growing organiza–

tion that is comprised of approximately

fifty Biology and Marine Biology stu–

dents. The club serves the purpose of further

educating its members in the field of biology,

while playing an active role in the community.

The club's educational activities include whale

watching, re-seeding, and beach cleaning pro–

grams, as well as tutoring. The club also serves

a social purpose in the hopes of tearing the

student away from his or her Genetics, or Or–

ganic Chemistry book by hosting several

events each semester. The events include

beach day, field trips, Bio Trivia, and the bi–

annual Bio-Party. The Biology Club has devel–

oped into an organization that fosters mastery

of'

the

sciences in order to serve and understand

the Biological community.

Black Student

Union

T

he Black Student Union has many posi–

tive goals to benefit the University's

community. BSU's purposes include en–

hancing the educational environment of

all

USD students and employees, providing a pro–

gram to increase recruitment and retention of

black students at USD, providing opportuni–

ties for increasing sensitivity of the student

body towards minority citizens through educa–

tion and involvement, supporting the Univer–

sity's mission, and acting as a positive outreach

to the community and other minority organiza–

tions. BSU has become increasingly active this

year in order to achieve their goals. The entire

USD community can benefit from the Black

Student Union.
