Intramurals

t

has

been another successful intramural

season at USD as hundreds of students

signed up to show their talents and

strengths and compete against each other on orga–

nized teams. High competitiveness was visible in all

sports such as floor hockey, speed soccer, co-rec soft–

ball, and flag football. The uniqueness of intramural

sports is the original team names thought up by the

team members. This year teams such as "Spoiled

Rich Freshman" (soccer, "Rec-ing Crew" (softball),

and "Bladerunners" (floor hockey) showed their

strengths and did well. Although many teams fail to

compete as well as others, intramural sports provides

fun and excitement of less serious competition for

any student. As opposed

to

the inter-collegiate com–

petition which, in the opinion of some, is for the

truly gifted. Anthony Carnevale, a devoted floor

hockey player says, "The best thing about intramu–

ral sports is that everyone who plays tries his hardest

to win making competition tough." Besides competi–

tion, intramural sports lets those students who want

to

get involved in sports be a part of an organized

team and have fun!
