,
Mr. J. M. Colles having presented to the
Society an engraving of the late Right Hon.
Lord Ashbourne, Lord Chancellor of Ireland,
to be added to the collection of engravings
in the Council Chamber, it was resolved that
the best thanks of the Council be conveyed

Land Registry,
The attention of the Council was called to
a circular issued from the central office of the
Land Registry of
Ireland
to
the Local
Registrars (with a direction to display the same
in the Local Offices), in which it was stated
that the Registrar had " observed a tendency
' on the part of certain Solicitors to lodge two
' 01 more applications to discharge eqiiities,
' or two or more assents on transmission
' where one of such documents would have
' been sufficient. This is a practice which
' entails on the clients unjustifiable costs."
The Council made objection to the terms
of this circular, as making an undue reflection
on the profession generally. After a corres
pondence with the Land Registry Office, a
letter
from
the Registrar was
received
intimating that the copy of
the circular
exhibited
in
the
local offices would be
removed.
