Nyborg Slot,

hvis ældste Dele stammer

fra omkring 1200. Fyn er Frugtbarhedens og de

rene Naturglæders Land. Overalt træffer man dyr

Hans Christian An

dersens

Vugge staaet paa Fyn.

Odense,

ubestridt

Svendborgs

idylliske Omegn, der virker

mest dragende paa Turister.

daarende Udsigt over

Svendborg Sund

jylland.

Sønderborg

er en historisk interessant,

gammel By, der ligger meget smukt paa begge Si

der af Alssund. I umiddelbar Nærhed af Byen paa

Fastlandssiden ligger de minderige Slagmarker

ved Dybbøl, Sundeved og Broager. Den hele Egn

hører i landskabelig Henseende til Danmarks al

lersmukkeste.

JYLLANDS VESTKYST

Middle Ages is

Nyborg Castle

the oldest part of

which dates from about 1200. Funen iis the land

of fertility and sheer natiunal! delights. All over one

finds cultivated fiekls framed with hedgerows and

large well kept gardens and orchards. Even the

very higihways are in many places flanked with

fruit trees and flowering bushes, which when in

bloom transform certain parts into mile long

avenues redolent wilfch a wonderfuil fragrance. Not

in vain has the cradlle of the world famed fairy

tale wniiter

Hans Christian Andersen

stood in Fu

nen. The same mild note, the same fecundity and

growth as is met with in Funen, is recognized

again in his wise tales. He was born in 1805 at

Odense, the largest town in Funen, in a

modest little dwelling, which has now been

arranged as a museum whit many curious

and beautiful relics connected with the poet.

Innumerable guests annually bow their heads

willingly in order to pass under the low

doorway into the precincts and surroundings

particularly associated with the master. But other-

wise it is beyond diisputé the idyllic district

around

Svendborg

which attracts tourists. From

the magnificent strand promenade which leads

from thej town out to the marine hotel Chri stians -

mimde one has a miost deliglitful view over

Svend

borg Sound

to the wood-clad brinks and the flat

tongues of land and points, dotted with fishing

haimlets, boat building yards, bathing liuts and

landing piers for the much availed of steamers

plying in the Sound.

SOUTH JUTLAND

One of the most deliglitful sea trips which can

be made in Denmark is Lliat from Faaborg in Fu

nen to

Sonderborg

or Mommark, respectively

011

the west and east sides of the large pretty islands

Als, in South Jutland. Sonderborg is an historical

and interesting old town beautifully situated

011

both sides of the Alssund. In the immediate v i-

ciniiity oif the town

011

the oontinent side lie the

famous battle-fields at Dybbol, Sundeved and Bro

ager. The whole district around liere belongs to the

prettiest in Denmark.

THE WEST COAST OF JUTLAND

No where else in Denmark is there such a glori-

ous bathing life as that diisplayed along the west

coast of Jutland. On the ahnotst 350 km long coast

line from Fano to the Scaw are situated a very

large proportion of the large and small marine

hotels of the country. The conditions here are also

perfectly ideal for bathing. The coast line is for

the whole distance almost unbroken, and behind
