Potentiometric titration method.

4

For AOAC / ISO / IDF MLT study

5

6

(

Applicable to the determination of chloride in milk, milk powder, whey powder, infant formula

7

and adult nutritionals by potentiometry, with an analytical range of 0.35 to 1060 mg

8

chloride/100g reconstituted product, or ready-to-feed liquids).

Caution: Consult material safety data sheets for all substances that are required and considered

11

hazardous. Follow all laboratory safety precautions and wear proper personal

12

protective equipment.

13

14

A. Principle

15

Reconstitute powder samples by dissolving 25 g powder sample in 200 g warm water (40 ° C),

16

while ready-to-feed products (RTF) are used as-is. Precipitate proteins by adding precipitation

17

reagents I and II and centrifuge. Acidify the supernatant with nitric acid solution. Titrate chloride

18

ions against standardized silver nitrate solution, 0.1 M, potentiometrically using a silver

19

electrode to detect the end point.
