OBITUARY.

Mr. EDWARD R. BATE, Solicitor, died upon

the 6th December, 1931, at his residence,

2 Eden Park, Sandycove, Co. Dublin.

Mr. Bate was admitted

in Michaelmas

Term, 1876. He was Assistant-Solicitor to

the Post Office

from 1878 to 1907, and

Solicitor to the Post Office from 1907 to 1919,

when he retired.

Mr. PATRICK^ LAVERY, Solicitor, died upon

the 12th December, 1931, at his residence,

" Melvale," Armagh.

Mr. Lavery was admitted in Michaelmas

Sittings, 1883, and practised at Armagh.

The Right Hon. Sir

JAMES O'CONNOR,

Solicitor, diediipon the 29th December, 1931,

at 4 Dulwich Village, London, S.E. 21.

Sir James served his apprenticeship with

his brother, Mr. Michael

J. O'Connor,

Wexford, and was admitted in Michaelmas

Sittings, 1894. He was called to the Bar of

Ireland in Michaelmas Sittings, 1900, and,

having been successively Solicitor-General,

Attorney-General and Chancery Judge, he

was in 1918 appointed Lord Justice of Appeal,

which office he held tmtil 1924.

He was re-admitted a solicitor in Michael–

mas Sittings, 1929, and practised at 62

Dawson Street, Dublin, up to 1931, when he

retired.

HIGH COURT JUDGMENTS.

The Master of the High Court will

in

future hear applications for final judgment

by default at eleven o'clock, a.m., on Mon–

days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays,

and Fridays ;

the papers to be lodged before

three o'clock, p.m., on the day previous.

LOCKERS.

Members can rent lockers in the Solicitors'

Buildings, Four Courts, for the sum of five

shillings per annum. Application should be

made to the caretaker.

The following form of Affidavit of Service
