Italian

Drink.

Blanch

two

ounces

of

sweet

almonds

and

rub

them

to

a

smooth

pulp

in

a

mortar

with

an

equal

weight

of

sugar

;

to

this

add

a

single

bitter

almond,

also

rubbed

to

a

paste.

One

quart

of

water

should

be

gradually

added

in

a

thin

stream

to

this

pulp,

and

the

mixing

must

continue

the

whole

time.

Cranberry

Drink.

Put

a

teacupful

of

cranberries

into

a

cupful

of

water

and

mash

them.

Boil

two

quarts

of

water

with

one

large

table-spoonful

of

oatmeal

and

a

bit

of

lemon

peel

;

add

the

cranberries,

a

little

sugar,

and

a

gill

of

white

wine

;

boil

for

half

an

hour

and

strain.
