6.4 Long Travel Damper

evolution: High Angular

Displacement (H.A.D.)

Technology

Car Manufacturers request high-performance

products for increased engine torque with com-

pact size. These expectations are now covered

with the H.A.D. offer for diesel engines and pe-

trol direct injection engines.

Valeo High Angular Displacement (H.A.D.) is

a further evolution of Valeo O.E. Long Travel

Damper Technology. It is composed of a high-

tech pre-damper multi-cassette that provides

an optimized angular stiffness over the clutch

disc. This O.E. technology enables car manufactu-

rers to use a rigid flywheel instead of the Dual

Mass Flywheel technology even at high engine

torques (up to 270 Nm for passenger cars and

350 Nm for Light Commercial Vehicles)

On the front cover of this brochure, you can see

the H.A.D. clutch together with the rigid flywheel

for Fiat Scudo, Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert

with 2.0HDi engine. This is not the only example,

as H.A.D. is also available for the Renault Scénic

1.9D and the Renault Fluence 1.5dCi. The choice

of clutch product depends on many factors such

as performance, efficiency and reduction of ove-

rall costs. Valeo’s R&D centres are capable of

offering a solution that is perfectly matched to

the car manufacturer’s requirements and the

given technical limitations.
