development and learning, pupil assessment procedures, curriculum development, classroom

management and teaching methodology, or show satisfactory progress in taking and successfully

completing a prosessional development program that has been approved by the chancellor of the

Ohio board of regents pursuant to section

3319.26

of the Revised Code;

In the second year of teaching under the alternative resident educator license, take the state

board of education examination for teacher licensure that measures professional knowledge.

(C)

Eligibility for a professional educator license. A professional educator license shall be issued to

the holder of an alternative resident educator license for teaching a designated academic subject

in grades kindergarten to twelve upon successful completion of the requirements specified in

paragraph (C) of this rule:

(1)

Four years of successful teaching experience under the alternative resident educator license

as verified by the employing superintendent;

(2)

Successful completion of the four year Ohio resident educator program (information available

at education.ohio.gov);

(3)

Successful completion of the twelve additional semester hours (eighteen quarter hours) of

professional education coursework, from a college or university approved to prepare teachers, in

the principles and practices of teaching, student development and learning, pupil assessment

procedures, curriculum development, classroom management and teaching methodology or a

professional development program that has been aprpoved by the chancellor of the Ohio board of

regents pursuant to section

3319.26

of the Revised Code; and

(4)

Successful completion of a three semester hour course in the teaching of reading in the content

area for all subject areas except integrated language arts, which shall require successful

completion of a minimum of twelve semester hours (eighteen quarter hours) in the teaching of

reading including at least one separate three semester hour course in the teaching of phonics; and

(5)

Successful completion of the state board of education examination required for teacher

licensure that measures professional knowledge.

(D)

A four year alternative resident educator license for teaching a designated subject in grades

kindergarten to twelve may be extended by the Ohio department of education on a case by case

basis in order to enable the license holder to complete the four year Ohio resident educator

program.

3301-24-20 Alternative resident educator license for teaching world languages in grades prekindergarten to twelve.

(A)

A four year alternative resident educator license, valid for teaching the world language named

in such license in grades prekindergarten to twelve, shall be issued to an individual who is deemed

to be of good moral character and who evidences meeting the requirements specified in paragraph

(A) of this rule:
