(1)

A bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

(2)

A minimum of twenty-four semester hours (thirty-six quarter hours) of coursework in the world

language to be taught, with a grade point average of at least 2.5 related to that coursework.

Coursework shall be well distributed across the content area and show increasing depth and

complexity and include advanced coursework in the content area. Extensive work experience

directly related to the area to be taught may be considered towards fulfillment of the requirements

specified in paragraph (A)(2) of this rule by the Ohio credential review board established under

section

3319.65

of the Revised Code.

Successful completion of the intensive pedagogical training institute established under section

3319.26

of the Revised Code , or a summer training institute that has been approved by the

chancellor of the Ohio board of regents puruant to section

3319.26

of the Revised Code, in order

to receive instruction in the principles and practices of teaching for individuals seeking an

alternative resident educator license (information available at education.ohio.gov);

(4)

Successful completion of the state board of education required examination for teacher

licensure that measures content knowledge of the world language to be taught.

(B)

The holder of an alternative resident educator license for teaching a world language in grades

prekindergarten to twelve shall meet the requirements specified in paragraph (B) of this rule as a

condition of continuing to hold the license:

(1)

Participate in the four year Ohio resident educator program (information available at

education.ohio.gov);

(2)

Show satisfactory progress in taking and successfully completing at least twelve additional

semester hours (eighteen quarter hours) of professional education coursework, from a college or

university approved to prepare teachers, in the principles and practices of teaching, student

development and learning, pupil assessment procedures, curriculum development, classroom

management and teaching methodology, or show satisfactory progress in taking and successfully

completing a professional development program that has been approved by the chancellor of the

Ohio board of regents pursuant to section

3319.26

of the Revised Code;

(3)

In the second year of teaching under the alternative resident educator license, take the state

board of education examination for teacher licensure that measures professional knowledge;

(C)

Eligibility for a professional educator license. A professional educator license shall be issued to

the holder of an alternative resident educator license for teaching a world language in grades

prekindergarten to twelve upon successful completion of the requirements specified in paragraph

(C) of this rule:

(1)

Four years of successful teaching experience under the alternative resident educator license

as verified by the employing superintendent;

(2)

Successful completion of the four year Ohio resident educator program (information available

at education.ohio.gov);

(3)

Successful completion of the twelve additional semester hours (eighteen quarter hours) of

professional education coursework, from a college or university approved to prepare teachers, in

the principles and practices of teaching, student development and learning, pupil assessment

procedures, curriculum development, classroom management and teaching methodology, or show

satisfactory progress in taking and successfully completing a professional development program
