that has been approved by the chancellor of the Ohio board of regents pursuant to section
3319.26of the Revised Code;
(4)
Successful completion of a three semester hour course in the teaching of reading in the content
area; and
(5)
Successful completion of the state board of education examination required for teacher
licensure that measures professional knowledge.
(D)
A four year alternative resident educator license for teaching a world language in grades
prekindergarten to twelve may be extended by the Ohio department of education on a case by
case basis in order to enable the license holder to complete the four year Ohio resident educator
program.

3301-24-21 Alternative resident educator license for intervention specialist grades kindergarten to twelve.(A)
A four year alternative resident educator license valid for serving as an intervention specialist
in grades kindergarten to twelve shall be issued to an individual who is deemed to be of good
moral character and who evidences meeting the requirements specified in paragraph (A) of this
rule. Alternative resident educator licenses for intervention specialist shall be issued in the areas
of mild/moderate educational needs, moderate/intensive educational needs, visually impaired, and
hearing impaired:
(1)
A bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
(2)
A minimum of twenty-four semester hours (thirty-six quarter hours) of coursework in the area
of intervention specialist, with a grade point average of at least 2.5 related to that coursework,
including a minimum of eighteen semester hours (twenty-seven quarter hours) of core intervention
specialist coursework in the area to be taught and six semester hours (nine quarter hours) of
coursework in the teaching of reading. Extensive work experience directly related to the area to
be taught may be considered towards fulfillment of the requirements specified in paragraph (A)(2)
of this rule by the Ohio credential review board established under section
3319.65of the Revised
Code.
(3)
Successful completion of the intensive pedagogical training institute established under section
3319.26of the Revised Code , or a summer training institute that has been approved by the
chancellor of the Ohio board of regents pursuant to section
3319.26of the Revised Code, in order
to receive instruction in the principles and practices of teaching for individuals seeking an
alternative resident educator license (information available at education.ohio.gov); and
(4)
Successful completion of the state board of education required examination for teacher
licensure that measures content knowledge of the intervention specialist area to be taught.
(B)
The holder of an alternative resident educator license for intervention specialist shall meet the
requirements specified in paragraph (B) of this rule as a condition of continuing to hold the license:
