August has quickly passed us by, but not before we squeezed as
much fun out of it as possible! We enjoyed the Karaoke night,
Milliken Marina Rendezvous, and Tiger's game, Commodores
Cruise to Put-In-Bay, Middle Bass and Kelley's Island, Labor Day
weekend, and the General Membership meeting, PC's beer bust,
and Italian dinner night with entertainment. As well as an incoming
poker run, rendezvous' and taking in new members along the way
that we can credit to all of the fun and great times that we had.
How did we do it? We did it with gusto, the NCYC way! Thanks to
P/C Don and his wife Barb, Fleet Captain Ian and his wife Marie,
Commodore John and wife Bev, all of the P/C’s, and The Siwek
family. Not to mention the long list of giving and hardworking
NCYC members that chipped in their time and efforts to make it so
much fun for the other members, their families, and friends.
Sandi and I had the pleasure of joining the Commodores Cruise to the Lake Erie islands. It
was an experience that we will not forget. We had great water to travel there and back, the
lake gods were on the Commodore’s side. The experience further developed the great
relationships that Sandi and I had already forged with those in attendance. We again learned
how gracious other Boat Clubs are to incoming rendezvous clubs. At Middle Bass Island Club
with their brand new facilities, they opened their clubhouse, gave us full access, and simply
asked us to lock the door behind us as we left. We cooked a great group dinner and
weathered a storm while enjoying their facilities, great people!!
There is so much more yet to enjoy at the island. I encourage you to look at the calendar of
upcoming events, get involved, help the event hosts, and support their events. You will not be
sorry.
Last but not least, I want to give a heartfelt thanks to those that have chosen to get involved in
the NCYC elections this year. This is one of the most important donations a member, their
spouse, and family can make to the club. What a great slate, we will be in good hands no
matter what the outcome. If you are not sure who to cast your vote for, don't be shy, go speak
with the candidates, I am sure they will welcome your questions. I wish each and every
candidate good luck in their efforts to serve.
