Parking information subsystem provides road users with up-to-date information

on car parks occupancy (in terms of the number of free parking places and the state of

filling up), in selected car parks which are linked with the system. Information provided

to road users is created basing on the data collected from the operators of individual car

parks. Road users are given the information by means of 12 parking information boards

supplied and installed by the contractor.

7.7 Problem and solution Wroclaw Telematics System – a case study

The case study was solved during the Summer School organised as part of the

project Green Solutions for Business and Industry at SKODA AUTO University [2].

The huge development in car industry has both advantages and disadvantages

for human. One hundred years ago, cars were only affordable for the richest ranks

of people, but as the car industry was getting more and more effective, car became

affordable for more and more people. In 2011, the number of cars cruising on the

world’s roads surpassed 1 billion [15] and taking into account the market growth in

developing countries, the trend is still ascending.

Whereas the quantity of cars is still increasing, the space especially in cities is limited

and this situation requires some complex solution. Thus, the object of this study is to find

some sustainable traffic solutions for the traffic in Wroclaw, while taking into account

ecological aspects of traffic as well account ecological aspects of traffic solutions as well.
