Nice One
Cyril!
Seven members of Thames
Valley branch were
presented with their IPA
membership certificates
during a branch Sunday
lunch at the England’s
Rose public house at
Postcombe, Oxfordshire.
Cyril Wise was awarded a
certificate for having been a member of the
Association for 60 years. Cyril, aged 93, who
is the longest serving Thames Valley branch
member, was unable to be present at the lunch.
So Mike Vince called on him at home to present
his certificate. Well done Cyril!
Len Doncaster, and his wife Olwyn, were also
delighted when Len was presented with his 40
year certificate.
In all 30 members and 3 guests from Germany
enjoyed the celebrations.
Trip Down
the
Medway
Sixty members from Kent branch enjoyed a
three-hour trip on the river Medway aboard
The Kentish Lady
- a craft which carries
sightseeing passengers during the day and
groups on special occasions in the evening.
The cruise took the group from Maidstone up
to Allington Lock then down to Wateringbury
and finally through to East Farleigh.
There is a licensed bar on board and the
members were entertained by ‘Rich Picture’,
a duo performing music from the fifties and
sixties. Rich Picture comprises Mick Abbott,
Kent branch Chair, and Malcolm Lenny.
The branch hope to make this event
a regular fixture in their calendar.

Two Cities Make
20 Years
In October, 2013, members of Two
Cities branch gathered to celebrate the
twentieth anniversary of the branch.
This
historic event was held aboard a boat on
the river Thames. The day centred around
a cruise between Westminster Pier, as far
as the Houses of Parliament, and then
down stream as far as Greenwich. During
this cruise the group were served with a
wonderful IPA cake.
Why Two Cities?
In 1993 a joint meeting of the four
London branches was held at Wood Street
police station. An idea was proposed to
amalgamate two branches together - City of
London branch and the City of Westminster
branch. It was agreed by all for the new
branch to be known as the Two Cities
Branch. Twenty years on Two Cities branch
is still operating and is looking forward for
the next twenty years.
