Quality inspection for stainless
steel tubes

Systèmes
designs, develops and manufactures
a complete range of NDT products in
eddy current and ultrasonic testing
methods, including high performance
instruments and systems, probes
and transducers, accessories, and
complete turnkey machines with
associated mechanics.
For high quality and
precision tubing, CMS
has developed the
RotoUTscan ultrasonic
rotating head for tube
inspection in stainless
steel, titanium, zirconium
and
carbon
steel
(diameter range 6 to
250mm) for longitudinal
and transversal defect
detection,
thickness
measurement,
OD-ID
and ovalisation. It can
be combined with other
CMS equipment (including magne-
tising units, rotating systems and
support coils) for a full body inspection
of the product, and can be installed in a
strong control bench including centring
devices.
Probus supervision software, for
collecting information provided by
NDT equipment, allows the display
of combined signals (UT/ET) and the
creation of inspection reports that can
be used as control evidence for quality
services and customers. Data stored
can be recalled for analysis and quality
treatment.

Permanent protective coating for
tube and pipe applications
QUAKER Chemical, a fluid solutions
supplier for tube and pipe applications,
offers coatings for the back end of the
manufacturing process. The coatings
series include environmentally friendly
solvent based coatings, fast drying, low
VOC, water-based coatings, and UV
coatings that can be customised to meet
increasing performance demands.
The company’s Quakercoat
®
024
is a 100 per cent solids UV curable
protective coating. Intended to provide
corrosion protection on metal tube and
pipe surfaces composed of steel or
galvanised steel, the coating provides
benefits including instant curing at low
energy, low smell, and a low viscosity for
easier sprayability at lower temperature,
bringing additional savings on energy
consumption.
Complementary process fluid products
can be integrated throughout the entire
tube and pipe making process.

Made to measure welding
processes
REHM supplies TIG welding equipment
and has just released the ‘INVERTIG.
PRO’ range, which achieves new
dimensions in TIG welding with regard
to duty cycles and user guidance.
Now REHM also sets the pace for
MIG/MAG with its new ‘MEGA.PULS
FOCUS’: the pulsed arc welding
process FOCUS.PULS means 30 per
cent more productivity, 30 per cent less
energy and 30 per cent less welding
fumes. The INVERTIG.PRO range
covers everything which professionals
expect form a TIG technology. The
precision welding process control keeps
the arc stabile in every position. All
power classes from 240 to 450 A are
characterised by unlimited flexibility as
well as the best ignition characteristics
and can, if required, be equipped with
the unique “digital” menu guidance. The
MIG/MAG unit MEGA.PULS FOCUS
convinces users with its technical data
and, above all, in practice in the entire
range with made to measure processes
for thick/thin mild steel, stainless steels
and aluminium/copper alloys.
