Gas and oil pipeline valves
UK-based Global Oilfield Supplies
Ltd supplies pipeline equipment to
the world’s oil, gas and petrochemical
industries, specialising in valves and
gaskets as its main products.
As the company heads into its ninth
year, it continues to grow by adding
new stock lines and increasing existing
ones to keep up to date with the market
place. Utilising its stocks and dedicated
factories it is able to supply a full range
of pipeline valves on a stock based
delivery, or on a longer lead time to suit
the customer’s specific requirements.
As a recent example, the company
supplied two 30" gate valves to Exxon
Mobil Europe for an unscheduled
shutdown. After receiving the order
on a Tuesday, the company carried
out the client specific modifications
required and delivered the valves via
dedicated driver overnight on Friday;
the valves were received on-site on
Saturday morning and the line was up
and running again by the evening.
The Global Oilfield Supplies range
covers all gate, globe,
check and ball valves
from sizes ¼" and
above, rated ANSI
150, 300, 600, 800,
900, 1500 and 2500,
with a variety of end
connections including
flanged RF and RTJ,
butt weld, socket weld
and screwed. These
are available off-the-
shelf in various grades
of carbon, low carbon,
stainless and chrome-
moly steels, with an
unlimited range of
other material grades
available on lead-time delivery.
The company can accommodate the
increasing requirements for bespoke
valves and specials, and in some
circumstances a bespoke valve can
be designed, approved, manufactured
and completed in as little as four
weeks. Modification is also a key
objective to meeting specific valve
requirements when time is of the
essence, for example breakdowns,
being able to meet the exact
requirements needed but at the same
time eliminating a lengthy factory lead-
time delivery utilising stock valves to
modify trims, extensions, connections
and bypasses.

can provide a range of
valves, off-the-shelf
China Valves Technology, Inc, through
its various subsidiaries, is engaged in
the development, manufacturing and
sale of high quality metal valves for the
electricity, petroleum, chemical, water,
gas and metallurgy industries.
The company has announced that its gate
and check valves used in the core island
of nuclear power plants have successfully
passed all tests administered by China
Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE), the
primary nuclear science and technology
research institute in China, and Nuclear
Power Institute of China (NPIC), the
leading base in China for nuclear reactor
engineering research, design, testing and
operation.
With a diameter of 250mm and
1,500lb of compressive resistance, the
prototype valves are among the largest
and highest performing valves to be
made by Chinese manufacturers. China
Valves said that it has become the only
valve manufacturer in China to pass all
tests provided by these two institutes
at the first attempt, and the company
is now eligible to supply valves for core
islands of nuclear power plants, which
are mostly imported from overseas.
The valves underwent detailed tests,
including functional tests and an
earthquake test. The functional tests
consist of a working life test which
examines the valves resistance under 20
MPa high pressure at 38ºC, repeated 500
times, and under extreme temperatures
in the range of 316ºC under pressure
of 16 MPa, repeated 1,500 times, as
well as impact tests under different
temperatures, a high-pressure blocking
test, a flow coefficient test and a pipe
loading test.
According to the National Development
and Reform Commission (NDRC), China
will install at least eight nuclear power
generating units each year between
2010 and 2020, which require more than
30,000 valves for each unit, of which over
one-third are used in the core island,
while accounting for approximately 70
per cent of the total value. Each nuclear
power generating unit will require valves
for an amount of more than RMB350mn
at core inland, of which imports have
traditionally accounted for the majority.
“Following the successful tests, we
believe we are well-positioned to win
orders in the nuclear core island valve
market,” commented Mr Jianbao Wang,
chief executive officer of China Valves.
“Meanwhile, we have continued tomake
progress in supplying valves for the
conventional island of nuclear power
plants. In addition to nuclear valves,
our strong competitive advantages
include extra large diameter ball valves.
We are the only company in China able
to produce the large ball valves for
pumped storage hydropower plants.”
